J.J. McCarthy is working out with an old friend of ours ahead of Training Camp
From everything we’ve heard to this point in the offseason program for the Minnesota Vikings, rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy is likely to start his first NFL season holding a clipboard. If that’s the case, however, it won’t be because he didn’t bust his tail in preparation for his first Training Camp.
Former Vikings’ receiver Adam Thielen posted the video below to his Instagram today, showing him working out with McCarthy.
The video isn’t anything terribly earth-shattering or anything like that. It’s a lot of Thielen running routes and McCarthy throwing him the football, but it’s still pretty nice to see. Also, McCarthy throws a really nice ball from what we see in the video here. Yes, it’s in a hoodie and sweatpants as opposed to full pads, but it’s something.
It’s pretty cool of Thielen to take some time to work with the Vikings’ quarterback of the future. He played with a few different quarterbacks over his time in Minnesota and I’m guessing still has a bit of a soft spot for his home town team. Say, did you know that Thielen played his college ball in Mankato and only got a $500 scholarship?
You did know that? Oh. . .never mind, then.
As cool as this video is, I think we’re all looking forward to watching McCarthy throw passes to the guys he’ll be calling his teammates going forward. We’ll start seeing that in about four weeks or so when everyone reports to the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center.
