Trading places: Cowboys star Reece Robson’s property sales and splurges
Cowboys hooker Reece Robson has had a busy few months buying and selling real estate ahead of the birth of his first child with partner Ellie Carmichael.
Robson, 25, recently offloaded a unit in Belgian Gardens for $400,000, just two months after the expectant father bought a family-friendly home in Townsville.
Property records show that Robson sold the two bedroom unit on October 17, three months after he and partner Ellie Carmichael announced they were expecting their first child, due on January 24.
“Growing our littlest love,” they captioned a post online, with pictures of the couple on The Strand and Carmichael’s belly beginning to show.
Just six weeks after that post, Robson bought a four-bedroom house in Townsville for $707,500.
Their new home is perfect for nesting, with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, space for five cars and it sits on a 1181sq m block.
The classic Queenslander had been given a modern upgrade but had retained its period features.
But Robson’s name is also against another curious purchase deep within Dolphins territory.
Publicly available records show the star player also dropped $748,000 on a four-bedroom house on a 471sq m block at Margate on the Redcliffe peninsula in September.
It is understood the property is currently tenanted, with it last listed for $600 a week.
Robson re-signed with the North Queensland Cowboys through to 2025 in November last year, despite attracting interest from the St George Illawarra Dragons, Brisbane Broncos, Canberra Raiders and the Gold Coast Titans.
Whether the Margate purchase was just a savvy investment in Brisbane’s tight rental market or a future-proofing move remains to be seen.
