The Memphis Grizzlies selected Cam Spencer, a basketball player from UConn, with the 53rd choice in the 2024 NBA Draft. This year’s draft saw the selection of three of his teammates: Tristen Newton (49th to the Indiana Pacers), Donovan Clingan (seventh to the Portland Trail Blazers), and Stephon Castle (fourth to the San Antonio Spurs).
The 24-year-old helped the Huskies win their second straight national championship by making the most of his one year at UConn. During the previous season, the 6-3, 205-pound guard averaged 14.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. He shot 48.4% from the field, 44.0% from three points, and 91.1% from the free-throw line in accomplishing that.
The native of Davidsonville, Maryland, played college basketball for five years. He spent three years as a player for Loyola Maryland. In his third season, he scored 18.9 points a night and started to take off. After that season, he played his final season in Storrs before transferring to Rutgers, where he put up impressive numbers (13.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists).

Cam’s drawbacks Spencer
Spencer may have already reached his peak as a player because he will turn 25 in April. His athleticism is not his strongest suit, and at 6-3, his stature does not compensate for it. He had to deal with a severe hip injury as well.
