Jayden Daniels Hasn’t Gotten ‘Any Assurance’ from Commanders Ahead of 2024 NFL Draft
Jayden Daniels is the overwhelming favorite to be taken No. 2 overall by the Washington Commanders on Thursday, but the LSU product has not received any assurances.

The B/R Scouting Department has Daniels going No. 2 overall to the Commanders but has him ranked far lower on their board at No. 31 overall. Even in the most generous terms, Daniels would be considered overdrafted by the Commanders.
That said, Daniels has polarized evaluators throughout the process. Some believe he needs a ton of work on his timing and decision making in the pocket before excelling at the next level. Others see his downfield passing ability and otherworldly scrambling capabilities and see a better version of Lamar Jackson.
“It’s a no-brainer to me,” one coach told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. “Jayden looks like the best guy in this draft.”
Another coach said Daniels is “further along” than Jackson was coming out of Louisville.
This pick is vital to the next step in the Commanders franchise. Washington rid itself of derided longtime owner Daniel Snyder last season and began overhauling its organization this offseason, hiring Adam Peters as general manager and Dan Quinn as head coach. Anything above complete incompetence will be an improvement over the Snyder era, but this is an organization looking to rebuild trust with its fanbase and find a home for a new stadium.
Drafting a superstar quarterback is the quickest way to undo a quarter-century of bad vibes.
