HOUSTON — Vince Young, former NFL quarterback and UT alumnus, was involved in a bar fight in Houston in early February. In a viral video capturing the chaotic altercation, someone involved in the fight appeared to knock Young unconscious.
The fight happened at Tokyo Joe’s in Houston, according to TMZ.
In the video, Young can be seen by the bar with a group of people who appear to be arguing. Things quickly escalated after more people started approaching Young and getting in his face. One person threw a drink.
The group moved to the other side of the bar, with more people joining in on the scuffle and crowds watching things unfold.
Young was then punched by one of the men fighting and immediately fell to the ground before getting up after a few moments.
It’s unclear what started the scuffle.
ABC 13 reports that staff members from the bar were involved in the fight and also were the ones to call 911. The Houston Police Department said the fight took place on Feb. 4 around 10 p.m. HPD said the manager wanted to document the altercation but didn’t want to press charges.
Young played football at UT from 2002 to 2004 and is one of the school’s most decorated former athletes. He went on to play six seasons in the NFL and was the runner-up for the 2005 Heisman Trophy.
