Unquestionably one of the top three wide receivers in football during the previous season was CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys. With the most (135 receptions) and second-most (1,749 receiving yards) in the NFL at the end of the season, the 25-year-old wide receiver set career highs in almost every statistical category. He also finished with 12 receiving touchdowns. (NFL’s second-most)Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb not reporting to training camp as he awaits contract extension: report | Fox News

Lamb made the leap that many predicted he would, and he is currently regarded as one of the best receivers in the NFL. There are very high expectations for Lamb’s 2024 campaign following such a strong season. So much so that Dallas’ wide receiver was predicted to shatter the NFL regular season catches record in a recent Bleacher Report piece.

amb had the breakthrough that many had anticipated, and he is now thought to be among the NFL’s top receivers. Lamb’s 2024 campaignL is expected to be quite successful after such a successful season. In fact, in a recent Bleacher Report article, it was expected that Dallas’ wide out would break the NFL regular season record for catches.

Last season, Lamb wasn’t too far off the mark. With 135 snags, the Cowboys’ main target was first in the league. Becoming the first wide receiver to reach 150 receptions in a regular season depends on three variables. To start, Lamb must average close to nine catches every game in order to succeed. Late in the previous season, he and quarterback Dak Prescott were clicking. In the remaining seven games of the Cowboys season, which included a postseason trip, Lamb averaged 9.4 yards per reception.

Second, Dallas did next-to-nothing to improve the situation around Lamb, who played all 17 regular-season contests in back-to-back years. The team still lacks a legitimate WR2 and Brandin Cooks is now one year older.

Secondly, Dallas took very little action to enhance the circumstances surrounding Lamb, who participated in all 17 regular-season games in consecutive years. Brandin Cooks is now a year older, and the team still lacks a reliable wide receiver.

These are valid arguments, and it stands to reason that if Lamb plays as well as he did in the last 12 games of the season, he will have a chance to set some records. In the 12 regular-season games, Lamb has 108 receptions, or nine receptions on average per game. That would be a 153-catch pace over a 17-game season, surpassing Thomas’s previous best of 149.
