Following a fiery crash at Virginia Motorsports Park, John Force is conscious.

The renowned 75-year-old NHRA driver John Force was conscious and interacting with emergency staff immediately following his violent, high-speed collision on Sunday at Virginia Motorsports Park during the Virginia Nationals.
At the finish line, Force’s car sustained an engine explosion during the first round of Funny Car eliminations. The car drifted back across the track and struck the right wall after crossing the centerline and colliding with the left concrete guard wall.
At the age of 58, Force was involved in a racing accident in Ennis, Texas, in 2007 that resulted in catastrophic injuries.

John Force went into a treatment facility, but his team claims the doctors told him that there was still a tough road ahead.

Legend of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) John Force arrived at a rehabilitation facility on Tuesday from a Virginia hospital, but his team stated that he still has a long way to go before fully recovering.

Following a tragic incident at Virginia Nationals last month, the Funny Car driver was still recovering when John Force Racing sent an update. According to the team, Force’s family viewed his release from the hospital as a “significant advancement in his recuperation process.”

“However, medical staff cautioned that the road ahead still is a difficult one,” the players stated. Force is coping with behavioral and cognitive effects of a traumatic brain injury. Even though he has been able to communicate with staff and family, spend time with his grandchildren, Jacob and Noah Hood, and celebrate his birthday on a Monday with his daughter Brittany, he still experiences moments of disorientation.

“Family members said that no timetable had been established for the length of Force’s stay at the new facility, which was selected because of its success in treating other race car drivers with similar issues.”
