Comedy: It’s been a while since actor, comedian and “Saturday Night Live” alum Adam Sandler has done a concert tour. Known for the “Chanukah Song,” “Thanksgiving Song,” “Lunchlady Land” and others, Sandler will perform on Saturday at Acrisure Arena as part of his “I Missed You Tour.”
Sandler released his first album, “They’re All Gonna Laugh at You!,” in 1993, and it sold over two million copies. His 1996 sophomore album, “What The Hell Happened To Me?,” sold the same amount as his film “Happy Gilmore” defied the critics and was a box office success. He released three more albums and the last was “Shh… Don’t Tell” in 2004.
But it makes sense why Sandler has taken a hiatus from music. Many of his subsequent films took in millions at the box office. In 2020, Sandler and his production company, Happy Madison Productions, signed a four-movie deal with Netflix for $275 million.

Rock: During the ’80s, English rock band The Cult reached international prominence. The band led by vocalist Ian Astbury featured a goth-rock fused with punk rock, hard rock and new wave. This is why songs such as “She Sells Sanctuary,” “Rain” and “Fire Woman” became rock-radio staples and still get played to this day. The Cult toured with the likes of Aerosmith, Metallica and shared stages with bands such as Pearl Jam, Iggy Pop and more.
Even though The Cult broke up in 1994, the band returned at the 1999 Tibetan Freedom Concert in East Troy, Wisconsin. Astbury also performed in Riders on the Storm featuring The Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robby Krieger. The Cult’s remaining original members are Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy, but the band also features former White Zombie drummer John Tempesta, former Page & Plant bassist Charlie Jones and keyboardist Mike Mangan.
The Cult will perform on Saturday at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa in Rancho Mirage.

Blues-rock: If you missed ZZ Top’s performance at the Stagecoach country music festival last April, you’re in luck. The Texas blues-rock band is performing Saturday at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. After five decades in the music industry, the influence of ZZ Top is extensive in country and rock music. Even Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme and the indie band Butthole Surfers list ZZ Top as an influence.
In 2021, bassist and cofounder Dusty Hill died, but the band continues on with Hill’s guitar tech Elwood Francis, guitarist and vocalist Billy Gibbons and drummer Frank Beard, who is the only member of the band without a long beard hanging down his chest.

Comedy: If you remember those “You Might Be A Redneck If…” jokes from the ’90s, there’s a good chance you also remember them coming from comedian Jeff Foxworthy. The Atlanta native built his stand-up career on those jokes and others about Southern culture. During the early 2000s, he teamed up with comedians Larry The Cable Guy, Ron White and Bill Engvall for the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, which was featured in venues across the U.S. for six years and led to the sketch-comedy show “Blue Collar TV.”
