Mick Jones announce unexpected announcement

Regarding the disputed authorship credits on their popular song “I Want to Know What Love Is,” Lou Gramm, the former singer of Foreigner, acknowledged that he still harbors animosity toward Mick Jones.

In an interview with VPR Rocks, Gramm said, “It’s very difficult, because we worked our tails off together, writing most of those songs.” Furthermore, we were, in my opinion, the main attraction of the band, thus the live performance held a lot of significance. And I felt that for the most of those years, we had a pretty strong friendship. It was, however, different after that ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ [songwriting credit dispute].

Gramm has said before that “I Want to Know What Love Is” was always going to be a big hit; in fact, it was the sole No. 1 in Foreigner’s career. Notwithstanding, the vocalist consistently maintained that he contributed significantly to the song but was never given credit because of Jones’ “greed.”
