Coldplay Joins U2 And Dave Matthews Band With Their Latest Smash

Coldplay is just beginning to promote their new album, Moon Music, and things are going fairly well. The full-length isn’t expected until October, but the band is already pushing the first single from the project to special heights on a number of Billboard charts. This week, the tune gives the group a new win on one tally, and it places them within reach of a record.

“Feelslikeimfallinginlove” jumps from No. 14 to No. 10 on the latest Adult Alternative Airplay chart. The tune enters the highest region for the first time, and in doing so, it inches the British pop-rock group closer to matching an all-time best showing.

Coldplay earns their milestone twenty-fifth top 10 hit on the radio ranking this frame. According to Billboard, they are just the third name to accrue 25 smashes that have cracked the highest tier on the tally.

U2 continues to lead the charge among all acts. The Irish rockers have accrued 27 top 10 hits on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart.

Dave Matthews Band comes next, and they’re not far behind. The jam band—paired with the lead singer on his own—has seen 26 tracks enter the top 10 on the radio roster.

Coldplay only needs one more top 10 hit to tie Matthews and his namesake band. Since the promotion around a new album just began, they may be able to snag that future smash in the coming months. The group remains incredibly popular among DJs and programmers in the alternative world, who seem eager to put anything the Grammy winners produce into heavy rotation.

Impressively, “Feelslikeimfallinginlove” only needed a month to find its way into the top 10. The single hits No. 10 in its fourth frame on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart. Radio typically operates slower than sales or streaming-focused tallies, and it’s not common to see any act—even one as popular as Coldplay—enter the highest tier after only a few turns.
