Starkville – Scroll down the Mississippi State football roster on HailState.com to find Creed Whittemore’s name. Check out his position, and you’ll notice two letters: ‘WR’.
Yes, Whittemore still plays wide receiver for the Bulldogs. However, as he prepares for the 2024 season, Whittemore plans to do everything he can to finish fall Saturdays in Maroon and White, not only catch passes.
“I try to be a utility player,” Whittemore explained. “I played quarterback in high school. I clearly switched to receiver when I came here, but I believe I can do a variety of things on the football field. Whether it’s holding, punt returning, sprinting down at the gunner, or wherever It appears that Whittemore is on the right track to earn Lebby’s and the other coaches’ full trust. He has the mindset. He has the talent. And you better believe he’s prepared for anything, anyplace, at any moment.
“There are other names that people have been talking about, but don’t forget about Creed,” Bumphis told the crowd. “Creed can play well, and he will be successful. He’s one of those versatile guys who can work both inside and outside. He can return punts.
“I always tell Creed that he is one of God’s favorites. He is chosen.
