Angel Reese of LSU has officially declared for the WNBA draft, only two days after her team lost to Iowa’s Caitlin Clark in the NCAA Tournament.
Reese made the announcement on Wednesday during a photo shoot for Vogue, where she wore Valentino, Diesel, Wales Bonner, and Christian Louboutin.
The 21-year-old stated how she was inspired by tennis legend Serena Williams’ retirement via Vogue in 2022, and said that she had already decided on the April 15 draft prior to March Madness.
“Of course, I like to do everything big,” Reese told the publication. “I didn’t want anything to be basic.”
“I accomplished everything I wanted to in college,” Reese continued. “I’ve won a national title and received the (Southeastern Conference) Player of Last season, the forward was named a unanimous first-team All-American while also setting an NCAA record for single-season double-doubles (34).
This season, Reese was voted a second-team All-American by The Associated Press and a first-team All-American by the USBWA. He also made the Wooden All-American team and was named SEC Player of the Year last month.
But is looking forward to a new challenge.
“I want to start from the bottom again,” Reese stated. “I want to be a rookie again and build myself back up; I want to be knocked down and learn and grow at the next level.”
The WNBA is a highly competitive draft space, given that there are only 144 spaces between 12 teams, and only 36 new athletes are drafted.The WNBA draft has finally come. The WNBA draft will take place at the BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) on April 15, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. Unlike previous years, fans will be able to participate in this WNBA event.
