AFL team news: New faces aplenty in extended squad
The Blues have named nine inclusions into a youthful-looking extended squad for the trip to Perth.

Carlton has named its 26-man extended squad ahead of Sunday’s trip to Perth to take on West Coast at Optus Stadium.

With six changes confirmed earlier in the week, the Blues have named four more potential debutants – in addition to Cooper Lord – ahead of the trip west.

With three players to come out of the squad, it means the Blues are guaranteed to have at least one more new face this weekend, with Dom Akuei, Harry Lemmey, Ashton Moir and Billy Wilson all named on the extended bench.Cerra, Hewett hail Carlton connection

That’s not including Jaxon Binns, who could also return to the line-up after playing one quarter as sub back in Round 7 against Geelong when he was a late inclusion.

Rounding out the ins are Jack Carroll, Corey Durdin and Lewis Young, with Lord’s inclusion confirmed at training on Wednesday.

It means 10 of the 26 players in the squad are aged 21 and under, with potential inclusions Binns and Lemmey joining Ollie Hollands and Lachie Cowan from their draft class in the extended squad.

The Blues’ team of 23 will be trimmed down and announced on Friday at 5pm.
