U2’s Adam Clayton and Wife Mariana ‘Have Amicably Divorced’ After More Than 10 Years of Marriage

The bassist and his ex-wife will remain “fully involved in the care of their daughter” Alba, who was born in 2017

Adam Clayton of U2 and Mariana Teixeira de Carvalho are calling it quits.

Following over a decade since tying the knot in September 201, the bass player and the Brazilian lawyer (who share daughter Alba, 6½) announced they’ve gotten a divorce, PEOPLE can confirm.

“After more than 10 years of marriage, musician Adam Clayton and lawyer Mariana Teixeira de Carvalho have amicably divorced,” a spokesperson for U2 tells PEOPLE.

“Both will continue to be fully involved in the care of their daughter and they request that the family’s privacy be respected,” the statement continues.

The 64-year-old member of “Vertigo” band and 45-year-old Mariana tied the knot in September 2013, with BBC News revealing at the time that Clayton had proposed to her during Carnival in Brazil earlier that year. It was their fourth wedding together.

The couple revealed Alba’s arrival in the Irish Times with a personal ad in July 2017. In the article, they said, “Adam and Mariana Clayton are delighted to announce the birth of their beautiful baby girl Alba.”

Alba was Clayton’s second child; he had a son from a prior relationship that was born in 2010.
