Breaking News: melbourne demons Facing Major Punishment from the AFL Commission as Investigation into

MELBOURNE Football Club is pleased to announce its AFL leadership structure for 2024, with Max Gawn named as captain for a fifth consecutive season.

Gawn, who first assumed the position in 2020, will once again be ably supported by Jack Viney in his role as vice-captain.

The pair will be further strengthened by a number of senior players, who will continue to provide mentorship and guidance for the entire playing group.

Gawn, a six-time All-Australian and two-time Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy winner, is beloved by his teammates for both his on-field accomplishments, and his care and consideration for players and staff alike.

The admiration extends beyond the four walls, with the 203-gamer a firm fan-favourite among the Demon faithful.

“It’s always humbling to be recognised by your peers, to have them value you and your leadership, and this year is no different,” Gawn said.

“I love leading this club, alongside Jack, and certainly don’t take it for granted.

“Jack and I have developed a really strong partnership over the past five years together. We both know what’s required to taste the success we all desire and are excited by the challenge that season 2024 presents.”

This year, Viney celebrates his ninth season as a formal leader of the club, an honour that reflects his deep connection to the playing group and the high-esteem in which he is held.

His integrity as a leader is well-respected within the club but also the wider football community.

A trusted pair, Gawn and Viney will continue to provide cohesion as the team moves towards the 2024 AFL season.
