SEATTLE – When the Seahawks meet the Cleveland Browns on Saturday to wrap up the preseason, fans should get to see most of the team’s starters play a series or two.
Quarterback Geno Smith is anticipated to participate in the team’s lone preseason game at Lumen Field, as coach Mike Macdonald stated this week he wanted to get some playing time in for the starters. The game starts at seven o’clock.
Less errors is something that Macdonald is hoping to see, as last week’s 16–15 last-play loss against Tennessee was caused by six second-half penalties.
Earlier this week, Macdonald stated, “There’s a lot of room for growth, which is an optimistic way of saying there are a lot of things that we screwed up.” Additionally, if you look.
Depending on how long those series go, the starters may play for just one or two series.
Macdonald undoubtedly hopes the starting defense plays as well as it did against the Chargers, when the Seahawks gave up only 7 yards on six plays without giving up a first down before pulling out. That was in opposition to Easton Stick, the Chargers’ backup. This time, Seattle’s starters might face Deshaun Watson.
The combined practices against the Titans were the only times the Seahawks saw Smith and the offense in a game-like environment.
Playing Tennessee’s starters back-to-back days was a nice test.
However, Tennessee employs the Seahawks’ defensive scheme. They may want for a few series and some new appearances.
Behind Zach Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker III, second-year player Kenny McIntosh and undrafted rookie free agent George Holani are still vying for third place.
Based just on practice and game rotations, McIntosh has appeared to be in control lately. He has also impressed in the preseason, logging a team-high 84 yards on 16 runs, or 5.4 yards per attempt, to lead the team. Holani is 28 on 8 points.
Additionally, the Seahawks might have to retain both on the opening 53-man roster.
