Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion are among the teams that have taken an interest in Leicester City centre-back Ben Nelson.West Brom boss Carlos Corberan: I have more pride from 'unfair' defeat | Express & Star

This is according to Tom Collomosse, who believes Oxford United, Portsmouth and Swansea City are also in the mix for the player.

The centre-back, who may not win much game time this season, could have the opportunity to be one of the first names on the teamsheet elsewhere if he makes a temporary move away from the King Power Stadium.

However, he only has a limited period of time to secure an exit at this point, with just hours remaining until the summer transfer window closes.

The 20-year-old is a highly-rated player in the Midlands, but he is currently behind others in the pecking order, with the likes of Wout Faes, Conor Coady and Jannik Vestergaard all able to play in central defence when fit, along with summer signing Caleb Okoli.

Although Nelson will be keen to test himself in the Premier League, following the Foxes’ promotion, he will need to prove that he is worthy of playing at the highest level and he may only be able to do that if he proves his worth elsewhere.

There is no shortage of interest in his signature at this point, even though his game time at a senior level was limited last term during his current team’s title-winning campaign.

There are plenty of teams in the mix for Nelson, with the Black Cats one team believed to be interested in securing an agreement for the young defender.

Regis Le Bris’ side are yet to strengthen this area this summer, although they do already have a decent number of options in this department.

West Brom, who lost Cedric Kipre, Martin Kelly and Erik Pieters this summer, are also thought to be interested in a move for the Leicester man.
