On the 247Sports 2025 Composite, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound Burries, a five-star prospect whose solid foundation and smooth style of play remind him of Californian Jared McCain, a 2023–24 Duke basketball guard, is ranked No. 14 overall, No. 3 among combo guards, and No. 2 in California. Jon Scheyer, the head coach of the Blue Devils, made him an offer in July 2023, two months before he left for Hundreds of former Duke basketball players attended Durham’s Pro Devils Weekend. One of those players who came back to school to reconnect with his old coaches and fellow members of The Brotherhood is Jahlil Okafor, who is back in the United States after three years of playing abroad.

Here’s a video of Okafor saying, “It’s awesome being back at Duke,” provided by the Duke basketball social media staff. “Coming back here is always a pleasure. Returning to Durham and visiting old friends is always a pleasure.”

Naturally, the 28-year-old Okafor took some time to think back on his incredible experience as a one-and-done in 2014-15 before being selected No. 3 overall by the Philadelphia 76ers that summer. Okafor won USBWA Freshman of the Year while leading the Blue Devils to the most recent of their five national titles.

“It feels crazy to think that it’s been 10 years since we won the national championship,” he said. It simply gives you the impression that I’m becoming older.

I believe that the closeness between us as a team was what made that squad so unique. We knew that winning a national championship was our ultimate objective, so we held each other accountable every day towards that goal.
