Colorado to be without multiple key players in Rocky Mountain Showdown
Coming off physical games against North Dakota State and Nebraska, several key Colorado football contributors are dealing with injuries heading into Saturday’s battle with Colorado State.
Head coach Deion Sanders spoke with the media on Tuesday and gave updates on those currently injured, including his son and starting safety Shilo Sanders. Consequentially, Colorado’s improved depth should be tested against the Rams.
Not listed below is Cordale Russell, a redshirt freshman wide receiver who underwent surgery in August for an undisclosed injury. Colorado has yet to announce a timetable for Russell’s return.
Below is an updated injury report for Colorado as it prepares for Saturday’s Rocky Mountain Showdown in Fort Collins:
Safety Shilo Sanders
After suffering a right forearm injury against Nebraska and undergoing surgery on Sunday, Shilo Sanders is expected to miss two to three weeks, according to Coach Prime. Sophomore Carter Stoutmire will likely start in his place against CSU.
Coach Prime revealed Tuesday that running back Dallan Hayden is expected to miss Saturday’s Rocky Mountain Showdown. The nature of Hayden’s injury wasn’t disclosed.
Defensive tackle Chidozie Nwankwo was seen leaving Saturday’s game against Nebraska early with an apparent forearm injury.
“We’re praying for him that he can make it back,” Coach Prime said Tuesday of Nwankwo. “I like to see one good day of practice before we put those guys out there.”
