Consolidate Charley Hull Escapes ‘to Get A New Moniker  Associated With Donald Trump

Just when it seemed that Charley Hull had finally shaken off the tag of being John Daly’s “sister,” comedian Theo Von made a surprising entry into the conversation by giving Hull the perfect nickname. In a recent episode of his podcast, “This Past Weekend”, the 44-year-old’s quick wit took center stage, and Charley Hull found herself in the crosshairs.

So what happened was Von invited Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance, to his podcast and covered various political topics. It wasn’t long before Vance quoted a classic line from the movie Happy Gilmore: “To be clear, I like golf. Do you like golf?”

To which Von responded saying, “I’m not that good at it. I’ll play when I get a little bit older, I don’t want to slow people down right now.” Alright, understandable. But that doesn’t mean that he isn’t aware of the golf world entities, as the comedian further added, “I like Brooks Koepka. He’s cool. And I like that girl that smokes that plays. Puffer McGavin or whatever her name is.”

It seems like smoking has now become a defining characteristic for Hull as well. Yes, she isn’t the only one to be associated with cigarettes; the legendary John Daly did that long ago.

John Daly: the name that echoes intoxication

Living under a rock is the only excuse for not knowing who John Daly is—a golfing legend whose powerful swings are as iconic as his love for intoxications. His name is synonymous not just with jaw-dropping drives but with his ever-present cigar. Yet, among all his traits, the last thing any golfer would want to mirror is his smoking addiction and of course, the controversial image that comes in handy.

The legend has never shied away from confronting his notorious habits. “I don’t want to quit drinking. I just don’t want to get drunk,” said Daly in a previous interview. While the tales of him bragging about his addiction are known to everyone, we are no strangers to his history at rehab. And while his bravado might draw a chuckle, his history with rehab tells a different story. His journey began back in 1992 when he first checked into alcohol rehab. Fast forward to 1995, and he’s raising the trophy at the British Open, sober for the moment. While many fans see him amusingly, it’s fair to point out that his addictions have come with a cost.

Remember 1997? That was the year he went on a notorious bender during The Players Championship, turning his hotel room into a disaster zone. To top it off, he ended up splitting with his wife. He even lost his contract with Callaway Golf because the contract included he wouldn’t drink or gamble again. Yet, in true Daly fashion, he doesn’t seem to carry any regrets.

Today, we celebrate him as a legend in the golf world, but let’s not sugarcoat it, his bold choices have often led him into hot water.
