BREAKING NEWS: Super League sides ‘eye up move’ for NRL prop after release…..
Super League clubs are showing an interest in signing NRL forward Liam Knight ahead of the 2025 season. That’s according to The Mole, via Wide World of Sports, who claims Knight is being looked at by a couple of Super League sides following his release by Canterbury Bulldogs.
The clubs remain unnamed, but the report claims he has some interest from the NRL too as he looks to prolong his career at the top level. Knight has 83 NRL appearances to his name having started his career with Manly Sea Eagles before taking in spells with Canberra Raiders, South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Bulldogs.
The lion’s share of those appearances came in the red and green of South Sydney, where he made 66 outings and scored three tries. However, the 29-year-old finds himself without a club after struggling with a knee injury during his final couple of years with the Bulldogs.

The report claims the prop has shed 10 kilograms in an effort to find a new contract, but he remains unattached at present.
Of course, clubs can always make changes to their roster in order to find the space for an overseas signing, but as it stands just two sides have room for more foreign names. Catalans Dragons are one, with the French outfit still technically having space at present while there is uncertainty around Reimis Smith’s future. The back penned a short-term deal with the Dragons last season and the club have not confirmed whether he will be sticking around for 2025.
Huddersfield Giants are the only other outfit with overseas space at this point and that’s despite signing Zac Woolford, Jacob Gagai and Taane Milne over the off-season. Castleford Tigers did have space before Wednesday’s signing of Jeremiah Simbiken from Norths Devils, with the Papua New Guinea international joining Danny McGuire’s side ahead of the 2025 season.
