There’s no doubt that the Penn State Nittany Lions had an amazing season. They went 13-3 and made it to the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff as the No. 6 seed until losing to No. 7 Notre Dame. One of the biggest reasons for their deep playoff run was quarterback Drew Allen, who finished the season completing 262-of-394 passes for 3,327 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions. After rumors swirled that he could declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, it was confirmed by Dan Brugler of The Athletic that he would be returning to college for his last year of eligibility. However, Allar will enter the 2025 season without starting wide receiver Omari Evans, who entered the transfer portal on Tuesday.
Evans’s departure could prove to be a huge blow for Penn State. In 2024, among the team’s wide receivers, he ranked second in receptions (21), second in yards (415), and first in touchdowns (5). This was also seen as a breakout year because, in 2022 and 2023, he combined for only nine receptions, 149 yards, and two touchdowns. Whatever team does land Evans through the portal will be able to get one year of eligibility before he has to move on. Penn State Nittany Lions wide receiver Omari Evans (5) Mark J.
