Ohio State came away with a 34-23 win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who finished as the No. 2 ranked team. Behind the two participants in Monday’s game was Texas at No. 3, Oregon at No. 4 and Penn State rounding out the top 5.

As for Kirby Smart, he ranked Georgia as the No. 4 team on his final ballot. He placed the Bulldogs ahead of Texas and Penn State, but behind Ohio State, Notre Dame and Oregon.

Smart’s ballot, published by USA Today, featured six SEC teams in the top 13 of the rankings. Georgia was also No. 6 in the AP Poll as well.

The Bulldogs lost multiple games for the first-time since the 2020 season, as Georgia also lost to Alabama and Ole Miss. But wins over Texas, Tennessee and Clemson kept the Bulldogs very much in the College Football Playoff picture.
