The 2024 college football season ended Monday night with Ohio State defeating Notre Dame in Atlanta. The Buckeyes finished as the unanimous No. 1 team in the final US LBM Coaches Poll of the season, which was released on Tuesday, receiving all 53 first-place votes.
Alabama came in at No. 17 in the final Coaches Poll, which is the same ranking as the AP Top 25 Poll. Head coach Kalen DeBoer ranked the Crimson Tide (9-4, 5-3 SEC) two spots higher at No. 15. The rest of DeBoer’s top five consisted of Notre Dame at No. 2, Texas at No. 3, Penn State at No. 4 and Georgia at No. 5. DeBoer had six SEC teams in his final poll, including No. 7 Tennessee, No. 9 Ole Miss, 16 Missouri and No. 19 South Carolina.
The highest Alabama was ranked in the final coaches poll was No. 11 by two head coaches, Troy Calhoun of Air Force and Derek Mason of Middle Tennessee. Two other coaches ranked the Tide at No. 12, Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman and Georgia’s Kirby Smart .
Meanwhile, five head coaches did not have Alabama among their top 25s. Washington’s Jedd Fisch , New Mexico’s Bronco Mendenhall , San Jose State’s Ken Niumatalolo , UNLV’s Barry Odom and Western Michigan’s Lance Taylor left the Tide off their final ballots.
