The Florida Gators entered the college football season with one of the toughest schedules in the country.
Florida kicked off the year with a matchup against the Miami Hurricanes and wound up playing six ranked games throughout the season.
The Gators went 8-5 on the season with a 4-4 mark in SEC play, defeating No. 9 Ole Miss and No. 22 Tennessee.
While Florida entered the year with starting quarterback Graham Mertz under center, he handed the keys to freshman DJ Lagway after suffering a knee injury in October.
Following his freshman season, Lagway used his newfound success and notoriety to sign an NIL deal with Nintendo.
Lagway announced his partnership with Epic Games and Fortnite, posting an advertisement on social media.
“OG Fortnite is back, so I had to hop on my Nintendo Switch,” Lagway said.
Lagway currently boasts an NIL valuation of $3.7 million, per On3. The Florida freshman has signed NIL deals with organizations such as Nintendo, Leaf Trading Cards, EA Sports, Florida Victorious and Gatorade.
During his freshman season at Florida, Lagway posted 12 touchdowns and 1,915 yards with a 59.9 completion percentage. He also added 101 yards on the ground.
Lagway and the Gators will now prepare for a matchup against Long Island University. They’re set to take on the Sharks on Aug. 30 to kick off the 2025 season.
