It’s no secret that Notre Dame women’s basketball has one of the best players in women’s college basketball, and budding March Madness star.

But ESPN helped put into context how great Hannah Hidalgo is as her second season continued with the Irish’s 76-55 win over Michigan. Hidalgo scored 21 points (8 of 14) with three assists, two steals, one rebound and a block in 36 minutes.

She joined an exclusive list with Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark as the only players in the last 25 seasons with at least 1,500 points and 300 assists in their first two seasons. The tale of the tape:

Then Hidalgo appeared on another graphic with Clark, her Fever teammate Kelsey Mitchell and USC star JuJu Watkins. They are the four players with the most games scoring at least 20 points since 1999-2000.

Hidalgo and Watkins each have another year of college basketball before they are eligible to declare for the WNBA draft. The Fever likely won’t be in position to draft either barring a trade, especially after an offseason which included Mitchell’s return and several win-now acquisitions, such as Sophie Cunningham, DeWanna Bonner, Natasha Howard and others.

UConn women’s basketball player Paige Bueckers has been named one of four finalists for the 2025 Jersey Mike’s Naismith Women’s Player of the Year, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Tuesday.

Bueckers, a redshirt senior guard, has been a standout for the Huskies in her final season, averaging 19.2 points and 4.8 assists per game while maintaining an impressive and historic .542/.411/.902 shooting split. Known for her efficiency, she leads the nation with a 3.9 assist-turnover ratio.

The three-time BIG EAST Player of the Year also made history this season, becoming the fastest player in UConn history to reach 2,000 career points, doing so in just 102 games. Bueckers is one of only three players in program history to reach 2,000 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists.

Bueckers was also recently named a consensus First Team All-American for the third time in her UConn career.
