ing To Balance All Those Things”: Dave Filoni Addresses Timeline For His Star Wars Movie & The Lessons He’s Learned From The MCU
The Marvel Cinematic Universe may have helped to inspire Dave Filoni’s upcoming Star Wars movie. Since Iron Man was released in 2008, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has been helping to shape the direction of the universe, having worked his way up from serving as a production assistant. He has helped to craft an entire cinematic universe from the ground up, merging countless projects from across a wide timeline. After the Star Wars canon was reset in the wake of Disney’s decision to purchase Lucasfilm, the studio has been attempting to replicate those efforts.
ScreenRant’s Ash Crossan spoke with Lucasfilm Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni, who addressed his yet-unnamed Star Wars movie. While he discussed his excitement about Ahsoka season 2 and Andor season 2, he explained that his focus is on balancing his many other priorities. He explained that he has been inspired by Feige and the MCU, but he does see some key differences in how they operate, as opposed to how the Star Wars universe has been run. Check out his quote below:
The main difference between the MCU and the Star Wars movies is exactly what Filoni mentioned; the timelines are extremely different. While the MCU generally runs linearly, this universe regularly leaps between eras, focusing primarily on the prequels, originals, and the sequel era. Filoni’s new movie will take place in the New Republic, after the fall of the Empire and the apparent death of Emperor Palpatine. While the MCU’s linear progression makes for a consistent story, the CCO is developing this movie with the knowledge that audiences already know how the First Order falls.
