Florida softball’s bats led the way in its 9-4 win over No. 1 Oklahoma in game two of their regular season finale series on Friday night.

The Gators hit four home runs on Friday, led by a grand slam from freshman Taylor Shumaker in the second inning, a hit that knocked Oklahoma starter Kierston Deal out of the game.

Florida also kept Oklahoma’s red-hot offense at bay, allowing only five hits. The Sooners gained three of those hits from 2-hole hitter Ella Parker, who went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run, a double and a single on Friday. The Gators’ pitching trio of Kara Hammock, Ava Brown and Katelynn Oxley combined for three strikeouts and eight walks across seven innings.

Oklahoma lessened the deficit to 5-4 in the fifth inning after Parker’s home run, but Florida answered with four runs of its own on three home runs in the bottom of the fifth, including back-to-back shots from Mia Williams and Ava Brown to ultimately secure the win.

The Sooners clinched the outright SEC regular season championship on Friday with Tennessee’s loss to Texas A&M but look to take the series in the rubber match on Saturday.
