Just in,..Newcastle Knights Cut Bradman Best: Parramatta Eels has officially announced the signing of Newcastle Knights Centre Bradman Best on a Three-Years Contract following his…

Bradman Best is firmly a Knight, not heading to Parramatta. He has been with Newcastle since making his NRL debut in 2019, and in February 2024 he re-committed to the club on a new three-year deal that binds him in until at least the end of the 2027 season. (Newcastle Knights)

The deal came despite strong interest from rival clubs wanting to poach him.  Club management celebrated the re-signing as a significant win for Newcastle’s future.

In short: rather than being cut, Best effectively chose to stay with his home club and extend his stay.

  • For the Knights: Securing Best keeps one of their standout young players in the key outside-back/centre position. Given his breakout season in 2023 (including Origin debut) and his age, this signals the club’s intention to build around him.
  • For Best himself: The extension offers stability and a platform to grow further. He has already shown he can perform at representative level (e.g., for the New South Wales Blues), and staying at Newcastle suggests he sees his best opportunity there.
  • For any linking to Parramatta: Since the reported cut and move to the Eels doesn’t reflect the factual contract situation, any analysis of Parramatta’s role or impact would be based on false premises.

  • Transfer rumours always swirl heavily in the NRL, especially for rising stars like Best.
  • Media outlets and social chatter sometimes mis-interpret contract expiry or negotiation stances as “exit being imminent”.
  • Perhaps someone mis-read or mistransmitted a set of rumours involving other players or clubs and attributed them to Best/Knights/Eels.
