**Max Muncy and Dodgers Agree on 2-Year, $24M Contract Extension**
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Max Muncy has agreed to a two-year, $24 million contract extension, ensuring his place with the team through the 2025 season. The deal, which was announced on Monday, comes after a successful run with the Dodgers, where Muncy has become a central figure in their offense and clubhouse leadership.
Muncy, 34, has been a pivotal part of the Dodgers’ lineup since joining the team in 2018. Known for his tremendous power and versatility, Muncy has played multiple infield positions, primarily second base and third base, and has been a consistent offensive force for Los Angeles. His ability to hit for power has made him one of the team’s most feared batters, with Muncy recording at least 30 home runs in each of the last three seasons.
“I’m incredibly excited to continue my career with the Dodgers,” Muncy said in a statement following the announcement. “This organization has been amazing to me, and I’m grateful for the support I’ve received from my teammates, the coaching staff, and the fans. I’m ready to get back to work and help this team win another championship.”
The new extension comes off the heels of a productive 2023 season for Muncy, during which he hit 35 home runs, drove in 94 RBIs, and posted a solid .215 batting average. While Muncy’s numbers were down in some areas, his power numbers remained strong, and his leadership in the clubhouse was invaluable. His ability to provide a consistent presence in the middle of the Dodgers’ order has been a key reason for the team’s sustained success in recent years.
The contract extension not only reflects Muncy’s value as a power hitter but also as a player who brings consistency and grit to the field. Dodgers’ president of baseball operations, Andrew Friedman, expressed his enthusiasm for keeping Muncy in the fold for the next two seasons.
“Max has been an integral part of our success over the last several years,” Friedman said. “His ability to contribute on both sides of the ball—whether it’s his power at the plate or his versatility in the field—has made him an important piece of our roster. We’re excited to have him under contract for the next two years.”
The deal also ensures Muncy will be a key part of the Dodgers’ ongoing efforts to contend for another World Series title. Despite the offseason departures of several key players, the Dodgers’ core remains strong, and Muncy will play a critical role in the team’s pursuit of its eighth championship.
As Muncy prepares for the 2024 season, fans are eager to see the slugger continue to excel in Los Angeles and contribute to the team’s drive for postseason success.
