We all have career-defining moments, and Angel Reese is no exception. After winning the 2023 NCAA national championship, the country’s biggest representation agencies sought to add her to their client portfolio. However, the rising star chose loyalty over money and ultimately got both.
Reese is one of the faces of the WNBA today. Alongside the likes of Caitlin Clark, Cameron Brink, and Camilla Cardoso, the Chicago Sky forward has revitalized the league, landing some juicy endorsement deals along the way. However, it wasn’t always that way. Early in her college career, the then-young player was told by an agent that she would never make much money as a professional player. Five years later, Reese’s net worth is hovering around $2 million, thanks to her agent, Jeanine Ogbonnaya.
On a recent episode of her podcast, Unapologetically Angel, Reese recalled those days when she rose to fame and began the siege of the big agencies. “I remember telling agencies, like, ‘I’m telling y’all right now, if y’all not letting Jeanine in on this, like it’s dead.'”
The bold move paid off handsomely for Reese. From her NCAA days with the LSU Tigers to today with the Sky, Reese and Ogbonnaya have landed endorsements with Airbnb, Topps, Tampax, Reebok, Reese’s, and Beats by Dre.Reese is the only WNBA player to have landed a deal with Reese’s, and the Reebok deal includes her custom line of sneakers. Angel’s loyalty and Ogbonnaya’s vision have catapulted the player’s earnings to such a degree that she no longer relies on her salary with Chicago to sustain her lifestyle.
