A painful departure: Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy just passed away to…

The relationship between former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Dak Prescott has come under scrutiny following McCarthy’s departure. While both men have publicly expressed mutual admiration, a report from the Cowboys’ flagship station, 105.3 The Fan, suggests their relationship may have been far from harmonious.

Bobby Belt of the station teased an upcoming segment claiming McCarthy and Prescott had an “awful relationship” during most of their tenure together. If true, this revelation could shed light on some of the team’s struggles and McCarthy’s exit after five seasons.

Publicly, both McCarthy and Prescott have spoken highly of each other. Prescott referred to McCarthy as “a great coach and a hell of a man,” while McCarthy described their bond as “imperative to success.” Their displays of camaraderie extended beyond the field; during a trip to McCarthy’s hometown of Pittsburgh, Prescott joined him for a tour of his old neighborhood. After defeating the Steelers, Prescott even presented McCarthy with the game ball, a gesture that seemed to underscore their mutual respect.

Prescott has been vocal in his support for McCarthy, even advocating for his return before the coach’s departure. “I believe in him wholeheartedly,” Prescott said. “I think he definitely deserves a chance at another contract and a chance to coach this team … on his terms.” He also credited McCarthy’s professionalism, saying, “It’s tough to probably get your job done and do your job with all that hanging over your head. But credit to him, credit to his professionalism and really his coach’s style of being able to get guys ready to play.”
