In the opener, Kasidi Pickering drove in four runs in four different innings including a walk-off RBI single in the fifth to give OU the win over Marshall.

In the second game, the Sooners scored four each in the third and fourth before adding a single run in the sixth to end it.

OU coach Patty Gasso was pleased with the sweep, even if her team wasn’t as sharp in some areas as they’ve been at times this season.

“It’s a good day today,” Gasso said. “There are parts of our game that might be a little bit slow, but we started to pick it up and to run-rule both teams, that’s a big deal here. These are two good teams, Marshall and Kansas.”

OU hit four home runs on the day, with Tia Milloy delivering a pinch-hit homer in the opener and Nilly McEnroe-Marinas, Isabela Emerling and Ella Parker homering in the win over the Jayhawks.

McEnroe-Marinas said when she stepped to the plate in the third inning, Pickering told her, “Just sell out.”

“I was like, ‘OK, that’s exactly what I’m going to do,’” McEnroe-Marinas said. “I feel like that’s what we did as a team.”

The Sooners (16-0) take on Kansas at 3:15 p.m. Saturday before taking on Marshall again at approximately 6 p.m. in the nightcap.

Here are three takeaways from OU’s doubleheader victory

OU’s offense was slow starting in the second game, but the Sooners finally got a bit of something going in the third inning.

OU had runners on the corners with one out when Cydney Sanders came to the plate.

Sanders is one of the most potent bats in the Sooners’ lineup, but Sanders hadn’t been making solid contact to that point Friday, so Gasso decided to switch things up.
