SPOILER ALERT: This story contains spoilers for “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which is currently playing in theaters.

Halle Berry said in a recent interview with ComicBook.com while promoting her new Netflix film “The Union” that Ryan Reynolds never approached her to reprise her “X-Men” movie role as Storm in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” The record-breaking Marvel film included the surprise returns of key Fox Marvel era heroes, including ‘Jennifer Garners Elektra and Wesley Snipes’ Blade.

Box Office: It “I thought it was a pretty cool idea,” Vaughn explained. “I asked ‘What is this?'” They replied, ‘This is the Halle Berry script, because she hasn’t signed on. This is how she wants it to be. And after she signs on, we’ll throw it away. I thought, “If you’re going to do that to an Oscar-winning actress who plays Storm, I’m quitting.”

Berry eventually returned as Storm in “X-Men: The Last Stand,” although the picture did not include any scenes set in Africa, as the script Vaughn read suggested. Storm’s involvement in “The Last Stand” is more prominent, as the character takes over as the head of Charles Xavier’s mutant school after his death.
