Carlos Corberan has revealed Jed Wallace was in a lot of pain after being brought off with an injury in the 1-0 West Brom win against Cardiff on 28 November.

Corberan went on to share that the blow had been to Wallace’s shoulder after picking up the knock early in the game, which meant he could not continue despite his best efforts.

The boss claimed he was not sure of the full extent of the injury, but hinted it may rule him out of Saturday’s clash with Leicester City or perhaps even longer.

peaking to Birmingham Live after the game on 28 November, Corberan shared an immediate update: “The injury he received in an action at the beginning of the game.

“He tried his best to stay with the team but unfortunately he couldn’t keep playing and now we don’t know if the injury will affect him for Saturday or even more, I don’t right now. It was his shoulder.

“I didn’t speak with him yet, I asked him how he was feeling, he said he had a lot of pain and couldn’t carry on with the game, we don’t know anything yet, honestly I don’t know anything.”

A blow to the shoulder preventing him from carrying on may be a worrying sign for Wallace. Often, these types of injuries can be played through, if with a bit of caution, but having to be taken off due to the level of pain he was in could be a concern.

Scans and assessments will be made by the medical department before the extent of the injury comes to light, but Albion fans will have their fingers crossed in the hope that he may even return to the side for a huge top-of-the-table clash at the weekend.

Wallace had been one of the key players at The Hawthorns to step up in the absence of others with his recent displays, and his presence will be missed despite the return of a number of those previously injured stars.

Corberan has been outspoken about his admiration for Wallace, with the 29-year-old playing a key part in his plans through the opening stages of this season, and he may now have to find a way to earn points and wins without him.
