Justin Turner’s Wife Dominated Singing the National Anthems on Sunday

A really cool moment on this Mother’s Day as Kourtney Turner, the wife of Toronto Blue Jays’ designated hitter Justin Turner, sang the National Anthems at Rogers Centre.

The Blue Jays posted the video and a photo of the Turner’s, as Kourtney sang both “The Star Spangled Banner” and “Oh, Canada” before the Jays played the Minnesota Twins.

Since Kourtney isn’t a professional vocalist as far as we know, she did a fantastic job singing, in our opinion. Turner is the vice president of the Justin Turner Foundation and attended UCLA for his undergraduate studies. Everywhere they go, the Turner family is renowned for leaving their mark, and this is no exception. Similar to what they are doing in Toronto, Justin’s family made it a point to visit Boston and integrate into the community when he was a member of the Red Sox in 2023.

As for Justin Turner, he’s a 16-year veteran with the Baltimore Orioles, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Red Sox and Blue Jays. A two-time All-Star, in the COVID-shortened 2020 season, he contributed to the Dodgers’ World Series victory.

Turner was out of the lineup on Sunday but should be back in the lineup on Monday when the Jays travel to Baltimore to take on the Orioles.

The Blue Jays’ selection of a different pitcher with their third-round choice caught us off guard. The pitcher, Johnny King, is a young, tall left-hander, and he was and is currently their lone prep selection. Having taken Brandon Barriera in the first round of the 2022 draft and Ricky Tiedemann in the third round of the 2021 draft, the Jays clearly have a type.

The Blue Jays also selected Khal Stephen, a collegiate pitcher, on the first round. Like Yesavage, the fastball hovers between 92 and 94 mph with a peak velocity of 96 mph and has a ton of carry. But his finest pitch is a massively fade-filled changeup; his slider and curveball are rated only mediocre.
