Radio shock jock Howard Stern had the flu and a fever which kept him off the air for a day last week, he said on his nationally syndicated show on Monday.

The veteran talk show host sparked concerns for his health last week after taking his first ever day off.

But he told his listeners that it was much ado about nothing.

‘There was a lot of speculation, “Where was I on Wednesday?” Many people pointed out that me taking what they call a “personal day,” by the way, I never said “personal day.” I didn’t take a personal day, I took a sick day and I’m still sick, you can still hear it in my voice.’

The SiriusXM host sent social media users into a frenzy when he didn’t show up for work Wednesday without any explanation offered as to why.

‘Why was it such a big deal that I took a f–king day off?’ he said Monday. Howard Stern is taking the entire summer off. Is that fair to Sirius subscribers? - Quora

‘I wanted to take off today because my voice is still shot, but I was afraid to. I felt so f–king guilty. I missed a day of work and all of a sudden it’s bigger news than James Comey.’

His wife, Beth Stern, insisted last week that ‘everything is great’ with Howard and that he will be back on the show Monday.

‘Everything is great. He’s coming back on Monday. He had to take a personal day, that’s all,’ she told the New York Post.

Concerned fans took to the Twitter to speculate over Howard’s unexpected cancellation Wednesday.

Many fans claimed this was the first time Stern, who does three shows a week, had taken a day off ‘since the 80s’.

One fan wrote: I have listened to the #HowardStern show since the 80s… NEVER canceled a show before! I am very concerned about the reason.
